Hopeland Community Initiative for Peace and Social Development (CIPSD), with support from the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND), is driving awareness and education to address harmful cultural practices that fuel violence in communities.

As part of its intervention in Akamkpa LGA, CIPSD conducted sensitization campaigns in Ekong and Oban communities to engage residents on the dangers of harmful practices and their impact on peace and social development.

These campaigns featured interactive sessions with youth, women, and community leaders, emphasizing the need to embrace peaceful, inclusive, and progressive cultural practices. Participants were equipped with practical strategies to challenge harmful norms and foster harmony within their communities.

The sensitization campaigns received strong support from traditional leaders, including HRH Ntufam Cletus Eba of Ekong Community and HRH Ntufam Stephen Mbey of Oban Community. Their involvement underscores the importance of traditional leadership in driving change and ensuring community-wide impact.

This initiative is a critical step towards fostering awareness, encouraging dialogue, and inspiring action to build peaceful and thriving communities in Akamkpa LGA. CIPSD remains committed to working closely with stakeholders to sustain these efforts and achieve lasting change.
